Norwegian Queen Sonja Recovering After Successful Pacemaker Surgery

The 87-year-old monarch has been discharged from the hospital and is recuperating at home following a heart procedure.

Queen Sonja of Norway underwent a successful pacemaker implantation on January 16, 2025, at Oslo's Rikshospitalet.
The procedure was prompted by atrial fibrillation experienced during a ski trip in Lillehammer earlier in January.
The Norwegian royal palace confirmed that the queen is in good condition and has been discharged from the hospital to recover at home.
Queen Sonja is officially on medical leave until January 24, 2025, as she continues her recovery.
Her husband, King Harald V, also received a pacemaker in 2024 following health challenges, with Crown Prince Haakon stepping in for royal duties during that time.
