Norway, NHIndustries Seal €305 Million Settlement in NH90 Dispute

The settlement ends years of litigation by transferring Norway's NH90 fleet back to NHIndustries with cash compensation.

Overview

  • NHIndustries will pay €305 million to Norway, in addition to roughly €70 million previously provided via bank guarantees.
  • The company will take back all delivered NH90 helicopters along with spare parts, tools and mission equipment, assuming full ownership of the assets.
  • The returned aircraft and components will be reintegrated into the broader NH90 programme, potentially easing spare‑parts pressures for other users.
  • All court proceedings are now closed following a mediated process at the Oslo District Court, the parties said in a joint statement.
  • Norway cancelled the contract in June 2022 over delays, maintenance issues and low availability after seeking €2.8 billion in compensation, a position NHIndustries had disputed.
