Overview

  • Paige Myers, 21, poured Liquid Gold poppers into a stranger’s drink in a Prudhoe pub in April 2024, mistakenly believing it belonged to a friend.
  • The victim reported dizziness, disorientation and a pounding headache after consuming the spiked drink, which was later confirmed to contain isopropanol.
  • Pub CCTV footage led the landlady to identify Myers, who admitted administering a noxious substance and pleaded guilty to poisoning.
  • Myers offered £500 to charity in an effort to halt further action, but the victim returned the money and Northumbria Police were alerted.
  • Recorder Peter Makepeace KC imposed a six-month sentence suspended for 18 months, ordering 20 rehabilitation days, 120 days of alcohol monitoring and 180 hours of unpaid work.
