Overview

  • The $50 million injection follows Firefly’s November Series D round that valued the company at over $2 billion.
  • Eclipse is designed to deliver up to 16,300 kilograms to low Earth orbit using Firefly’s first stage combined with a new upper stage and larger payload fairing.
  • Funding will support continued development of flight hardware and ongoing tests of the Miranda engine that powers Eclipse’s first stage.
  • Firefly targets Eclipse’s inaugural launch for no earlier than 2026 from Wallops Island, Virginia.
  • Northrop views the partnership as a strategic expansion of its launch services business with potential for National Security Space Launch Phase 3 Lane 1 missions.
