Overview
- An official Northern Railway notice on Friday reported 47 cancellations plus two short terminations and two short originations linked to misalignment on Bridge No. 17 between Kathua and Madhopur Punjab.
- Major services affected include the New Delhi–Jammu Tawi Rajdhani, Howrah–Jammu Tawi Himgiri, Pune–Jammu, several Vande Bharat trains to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and the Shri Shakti Express.
- Rail traffic on the Kathua–Madhopur section remains suspended, with multiple long-distance trains short-originating or short-terminating at hubs such as Ambala, New Delhi, Amritsar and Pathankot, and passengers advised to check NTES or dial 139.
- On Thursday, Jammu Division ran two relief trains for stranded passengers: No. 02238 to Banaras at 3:45 pm and a New Delhi special around 5 pm, each carrying roughly 1,200–1,400 people after an earlier unreserved Delhi service departed around 2 pm.
- Railways coordinated food, water and temporary lodging with GRP, RPF, district authorities and NGOs as many pilgrims and tourists remained stuck following earlier flash floods, landslides and a deadly slide near the Vaishno Devi shrine.
