Northern Edge 2025 Concludes in Alaska, Underscoring Carrier-Led Joint Readiness

The exercise validated Alaska’s dual role as homeland shield plus launch point for northern Indo-Pacific power projection.

Overview

  • U.S. Indo-Pacific Command wrapped the nine-day, multi-domain exercise on schedule with leaders reporting objectives met and interoperability strengthened.
  • More than 6,500 personnel, roughly 125 aircraft, and seven U.S. and Canadian naval vessels operated across the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex, the Gulf of Alaska, and the Aleutians.
  • USS Abraham Lincoln served as the command-and-control hub for its strike group, operating with three Arleigh Burke-class destroyers USS O’Kane, USS Michael Murphy, and USS Frank E. Petersen Jr.
  • Carrier Air Wing 9 flew over 3,000 hours and more than 1,100 sorties, executing defensive counter-air, maritime strike, and expeditionary advanced base operations.
  • Northern Edge ran concurrently with U.S. Northern Command’s Arctic Edge 2025, exercising cross-combatant integration as Marine F-35 units supported joint missions.
