Overview

  • The Green Fire has burned 10,334 acres in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest and remains five percent contained after nearly two weeks of burning.
  • The Orleans Complex Fire, created by the July 3 merger of the Butler and Red fires, covers almost 6,000 acres in Del Norte and Siskiyou counties with zero containment.
  • Crews have deployed two “super scooper” aircraft drawing water from Shasta Lake and received mutual aid from Bay Area fire departments.
  • Evacuation orders persist along Salmon River Road and in nearby communities after a firefighter suffered a heat-related illness and was evacuated for treatment.
  • Thick smoke has degraded air quality across Northern California, prompting the Bay Area Air District to extend an advisory through Monday.
