Northeast Frontier Railway Steps Up Intelligence-Led Crackdown After Weeklong Operations

The campaign signals a sustained policy shift toward intelligence-led enforcement across the railway network.

Overview

  • RPF personnel carried out 36 operations across the NFR zone from June 25 to 30 that targeted crime on trains and at stations.
  • Those raids recovered contraband and property worth more than Rs 43.92 lakh, including 83.984 kg of ganja, 343 bottles and one can of illicit liquor, seven mobile phones, two illegal tickets and over Rs 35,000 in cash.
  • Seventeen people were arrested for offences such as narcotics trafficking, ticket touting, theft and stone-pelting during the operations.
  • The force rescued 17 vulnerable persons, including 15 minors, and handed them to Child Welfare Committees, Childline, One-Stop Centres, NGOs or guardians after following due procedures.
  • RPF worked with the RPSF, GRP, local police and civil authorities to clear 61 unauthorised structures and about 5,600 sq m of railway land at Safrai and urged the public to report suspicious activity via Rail Madad or helpline 139.
