Northeast Frontier Railway RPF Reports Fresh Ganja Seizures, October Haul of Rs 9.41 Crore

Officials credit close coordination with GRP and Customs for swift handovers toward prosecution.

Overview

  • On November 12, RPF units at Dharmanagar, Agartala and Rangapara North recovered 50.51 kg of ganja valued at Rs 5.05 lakh.
  • On November 13, the RPF at New Cooch Behar seized 37.1 kg of unclaimed ganja worth Rs 3.71 lakh at the station.
  • Also on November 13, a joint RPF–GRP operation at Agartala and Lumding recovered 23.61 kg of ganja valued at Rs 2.36 lakh.
  • During October, NFR’s RPF apprehended 37 people and seized contraband valued at approximately Rs 9.41 crore, according to the CPRO.
  • All seized items were handed to the respective GRP Officers-in-Charge for legal action, with officials also highlighting ongoing rescues of minors targeting human trafficking.
