Overview
- NFR says 11 services launched in 2025 include the first regular links to Mizoram via Sairang, with a weekly Rajdhani, a daily Guwahati service and a tri-weekly Kolkata train.
- NFR introduced 42 additional stoppages this year—32 in Assam and 10 in West Bengal—at stations such as Diphu, Goalpara Town, Kokrajhar, New Haflong, Kumedpur, Old Malda and Kanki.
- Electrification under the zone reached about 3,871 route kilometres as of October 7, according to NFR’s CPRO.
- Operational upgrades included converting 13 train pairs to LHB rakes and deploying AI-based intrusion detection in elephant corridors, which NFR says helped protect more than 160 elephants.
