Overview
- NFR introduced 42 additional stoppages in 2025, adding 32 halts to 23 trains in Assam at stations such as Diphu, Goalpara Town, Kokrajhar and New Haflong.
- West Bengal received 10 new halts across 8 trains, including the Kanchan Kanya Express, at Kumedpur, Old Malda and Kanki to strengthen North Bengal connectivity.
- The zone converted 13 pairs of trains to LHB rakes during the year to enhance safety, ride comfort and operational efficiency.
- Electrification under NFR reached 3,871 route kilometres by October 7, 2025, following 1,141.38 RKM completed in 2024–25 and a further 146.44 RKM in 2025–26.
- Safety and technology upgrades advanced with 624 interlocked level crossings, 582 sliding booms, AI-based IDS credited with protecting over 160 elephants, and CEIR-enabled recovery of 174 phones with 146 returned to owners.
