Overview
- On March 6, 2024, Nathan Owen told emergency services his Jaguar I-PACE had lost braking capability and was out of control on the M58, M57 and M62 motorways.
- Officers from Merseyside Police’s roads policing unit boxed in the vehicle between junctions 11 and 12 of the M62 using Matrix vehicles to bring it to a safe stop.
- After a 16-month investigation, detectives charged Owen with dangerous driving, causing a public nuisance and two counts of fraud by false representation.
- The fraud charges allege he falsely reported his electric vehicle’s braking failure to emergency services in violation of UK fraud statutes.
- Owen, 32, of Prestatyn in North Wales, will face Liverpool Crown Court on August 13, 2025.
