Overview
- On July 17, Senior U.S. District Judge Barbara M. G. Lynn sentenced Russell Alan Ragsdale to 66 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release
- On April 29, Ragsdale pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of a controlled substance after admitting he was intoxicated on hallucinogenic mushrooms
- During sentencing, Judge Lynn found his self-defense claim unsupported and said the victim’s death was his own making
- Investigators recovered three firearms, including a 10mm Glock and an AR-15 rifle, plus nearly two grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms from his Seagoville home
- Ragsdale remains detained pending transfer to the Bureau of Prisons to begin serving his sentence
