North Melbourne Appoints Jaymie Graham As Senior Coach

The Fremantle assistant has been hired to overhaul the club’s gameplan and convert its young list into a genuine contender on a reported three-year deal.

Overview

  • North Melbourne confirmed on Monday that Jaymie Graham will be its senior coach after completing a formal selection process and signing a reported three-year contract.
  • Nathan Buckley removed himself from the coaching race late last week and is expected to remain as an assistant at Geelong rather than return to senior coaching in 2027.
  • The club’s six-person selection panel, led by CEO Jen Watt and football boss Todd Viney and including football director Andrew Swallow and Steele Sidebottom, closed the search after shortlisting Graham, Daniel Giansiracusa, David Hale and Xavier Clarke.
  • Graham, 43, arrives with more than a decade of coaching experience across St Kilda, West Coast, Fremantle and WAFL roles and is widely regarded for player development and tactical work with Fremantle’s young forwards.
  • North will move quickly to onboard Graham and begin trade and draft planning as it seeks immediate changes to its gameplan and to accelerate the pathway from promising young list to finals contender.
