Overview

  • The High-Level Task Force on Logistics and Infrastructure Connectivity agreed to collaborate with all eight North Eastern states and central ministries on a plan addressing gaps in highways, railways, waterways, airways, logistics and digital networks.
  • Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia mandated mapping every regional infrastructure project onto the PM GatiShakti Portal to improve planning and investment coordination.
  • States have been instructed to update their logistics policies using DoNER’s new metrics ahead of the next NEC session to streamline regulatory frameworks.
  • The task force outlined five strategic measures: creating a regional infrastructure grid, establishing priority project monitoring, offering incentives for multimodal logistics parks, bolstering cross-border trade routes and enhancing digital and power transmission links.
  • Officials highlighted the North East’s role as India’s gateway to Southeast Asia and identified high transport costs and connectivity barriers to remote villages as key obstacles.
