North Carolina is set to begin legal online sports betting on March 11, 2024, a day before the start of the Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball tournament.
The state lottery commission, which was tasked to license sports gambling operators, voted unanimously for the start date.
Nine entities have applied to take bets in the state and must receive a certificate of compliance to offer betting on their online platforms.
Starting March 1, betting customers can create new accounts and deposit money with a licensed operator that has obtained a certificate.
North Carolina will become the 30th state, along with the District of Columbia, to offer mobile sports betting.
