North Carolina Man Pleads Guilty to Assaulting Capitol Officers During Jan. 6 Riot

Anthony Mastanduno, 61, admitted to multiple felony charges including using a flagpole and baton against police.

Anthony Mastanduno pleaded guilty to six felony charges and three misdemeanors related to his actions during the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol breach.
Mastanduno used a flagpole-like object and a telescoping baton to assault police officers defending the Capitol.
He entered the Capitol building shortly after it was breached and participated in violent confrontations at the Tunnel entrance.
Mastanduno will be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan on June 27, 2024.
Over 1,358 individuals have been charged for crimes related to the Capitol breach, with more than 486 charged with assaulting law enforcement.
