North Carolina Man Pleads Guilty to Assaulting Capitol Officers During Jan. 6 Riot

Anthony Mastanduno, 61, admitted to multiple felony charges including using a flagpole and baton against police.

  • Mastanduno used a flagpole-like object and a telescoping baton to assault police officers defending the Capitol.
  • He entered the Capitol building shortly after it was breached and participated in violent confrontations at the Tunnel entrance.
  • Mastanduno will be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan on June 27, 2024.
  • Over 1,358 individuals have been charged for crimes related to the Capitol breach, with more than 486 charged with assaulting law enforcement.
