Overview

• A 2007 Chevrolet HHR driven by Haley Erin McCorkle turned left from a driveway into the path of a northbound 2017 Nissan Altima on Conley Road near Morganton.
• The impact forced the Altima off the road and into a front-yard lemonade stand, flattening the structure where three girls were operating the stand.
• Emergency crews airlifted two of the children to regional hospitals and transported the third by ambulance; at least one child has since returned home to continue recovery.
• The 24-year-old driver from Hickory was cited for failure to yield right of way causing serious bodily injury after troopers found no evidence of impairment or speeding.
