North Brabant’s 11-11 Carnival Kickoff Swells as Den Bosch Reaches Capacity

Post-pandemic turnout has surged across the province, including new large-scale celebrations in Uden.

Overview

  • Den Bosch’s Oeteldonk drew an estimated 100,000 people around the 11:11 a.m. countdown, matching peak carnival-day crowds.
  • The municipality used its WhatsApp channel to urge visitors to “seek space” at other locations as key streets filled, with local hospitality leaders saying Oeteldonk has no room left to grow.
  • Organisers report the Elfde van de Elfde is now marked in nearly every municipality, with Omroep Brabant broadcasting live from Den Bosch, Uden and Tilburg across TV and digital platforms.
  • Recent editions in Tilburg drew about 10,000 people, and Eindhoven’s organisers predicted a higher turnout this year after last year’s 3,000–5,000 attendees.
  • Uden staged its first large 11-11 event, and organiser Walter van Uden attended after hospital treatment for facial injuries from a bicycle accident.
