• Provincial officials say the volume of detected nests has made removing them all unworkable.
• This season’s control budget of €275,000 was exhausted, prompting a €110,000 top-up to finish priority removals near places like playgrounds, for a total of €385,000.
• From 2026, municipalities, waterboards and landowners will handle nuisance nests on their own properties.
