Overview
- Lando Norris won the Sprint and starts today’s Grand Prix from pole, extending his championship lead to nine over Oscar Piastri and 39 over Max Verstappen.
- Oscar Piastri crashed out on lap six of the Sprint in damp conditions and will start P4 for the Grand Prix behind Norris, Kimi Antonelli and Charles Leclerc.
- Max Verstappen was eliminated in Q1 on pace and will start P16 after Red Bull’s aggressive setup changes left the RB21 short of grip and balance.
- Team principal Laurent Mekies said the risk “went in the opposite direction,” and Helmut Marko confirmed Red Bull is weighing radical changes that would mean a pit-lane start.
- The Sprint was red-flagged after Piastri, Nico Hülkenberg and Franco Colapinto crashed at the same corner in low-grip conditions.
