Overview

  • All Meshnet functions, including device linking, routing traffic through other devices and personal mesh networks, will stop working on December 1, 2025.
  • The shutdown applies only to Meshnet-related capabilities, and NordVPN’s core VPN service will continue operating as usual.
  • Introduced in 2022, Meshnet let up to about 60 devices link through a NordLynx tunnel for secure file sharing, remote access and virtual LAN gaming.
  • Users have a few months to arrange alternatives, with suggestions including NordLocker for file sharing (3 GB free), ZeroTier for remote access, and cloud storage such as Google Drive or Proton Drive.
  • NordVPN says retiring the feature will free resources to improve speed, security and other mainstream VPN features.
