Overview
- The exercise is set for Jan. 14 from midnight to 2 a.m. EST over the National Capital Region.
- The Continental U.S. NORAD Region will direct F-16 fighter jets, a Coast Guard MH-65D, a U.S. Air Force UH-60, and a Civil Air Patrol C-182.
- Some aircraft may fly at about 1,000 feet and could be visible from the ground.
- If inclement weather develops, the exercise will move to the same time the next day.
- NORAD says the training is carefully planned and controlled to rehearse responses to restricted-airspace violations, hijackings, and unidentified aircraft.
