Noida Rolls Out RWA-Led Surveys, Shelters and Helpline for Stray-Dog Management

The rollout follows the Supreme Court’s revised directive to sterilise, vaccinate, then return community dogs, with exceptions for aggressive or rabid animals.

Overview

  • After a high-level meeting chaired by CEO Lokesh M, the Authority directed RWAs and AOAs to submit photographic reports identifying unsterilised dogs in their sectors and societies.
  • Selected NGOs will run a baseline survey across Noida and adjoining villages to classify dogs by sterilisation status, behaviour and health indicators, including suspected rabies.
  • Two dedicated shelters for biting, aggressive or rabid dogs are being established under the Health Department, with temporary housing in animal hospitals or existing shelters until they become operational.
  • Anti-rabies vaccination drives will continue through two engaged NGOs with documentation, and sterilised dogs will be identified by a V-shaped notch on the ear.
  • A toll-free complaint line will be introduced soon, residents can in the interim use 0120-2425025, and the Authority will map and designate regulated feeding points after surveying current sites.
