Overview

• A Noida police raid in Ghaziabad’s Nahal village on May 25 turned violent when associates of wanted criminal Qadir opened fire, killing Constable Saurabh Kumar.
• Qadir, a history-sheeter facing at least 16 criminal cases for theft and robbery, initially escaped the scene but was later recaptured by Noida police.
• On May 26, officers arrested suspects Nanhu and Abdul Salam after a brief exchange of gunfire near an underpass on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.
• Several other officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and a formal FIR has been filed based on a complaint by a Noida sub-inspector.
• Noida Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh announced Rs 1 lakh in compensation and mobilized fellow officers to contribute one day’s salary for the constable’s family while the investigation continues.
