Noida Authority Launches Stray-Dog Plan with RWA Surveys, NGO Mapping and Targeted Shelters

The plan follows the Supreme Court’s modified order mandating sterilise‑vaccinate‑return with shelters limited to aggressive or rabid dogs.

Overview

  • RWAs and AOAs have been directed to survey their areas and submit photographic reports identifying unsterilised street dogs.
  • A selected NGO will conduct a citywide baseline survey to map sterilisation status, behaviour and health, including signs of aggression or suspected rabies.
  • Two dedicated shelters have been ordered for biting, aggressive or suspected rabid dogs, with an RFP to appoint an operating agency under the Health Department.
  • Until the new shelters open, aggressive or suspected rabid dogs will be kept in existing animal hospitals or NGO-run facilities coordinated by the Authority.
  • The Authority has activated 0120-2425025 for complaints, will introduce a toll‑free line, will designate regulated feeding zones, will continue anti‑rabies vaccinations via two partner NGOs, and will use V‑notch marks to identify sterilised dogs.
