Noah Dettwiler Awake and Out of Intensive Care After Sepang Moto3 Crash

Following spleen-removal surgery, doctors plan additional leg treatment, with travel home to Switzerland still undecided.

Overview

  • A Friday update from CIP Green Power, his management and mentor Tom Lüthi says Dettwiler is awake, communicating and has been moved from Kuala Lumpur Hospital’s ICU to a private clinic in the city.
  • Doctors identified a crack in his neck that will be stabilized with a brace for several weeks, and he still requires another operation on his open leg fracture with timing and location yet to be determined.
  • Emergency procedures in Kuala Lumpur included the removal of his spleen to stop severe bleeding and an initial surgery on the leg injury.
  • Initial treatment followed multiple on-track cardiac arrests, resuscitation by medics and an airlift, with subsequent care including intracranial-pressure monitoring and treatment for severe lung contusions.
  • José Antonio Rueda, who collided with Dettwiler, sustained a concussion and a fractured hand and was expected to fly to Spain for surgery, while SIC58’s Paolo Simoncelli indicated he intends to honor a planned 2026 deal with Dettwiler.
