Overview
- Hundreds of antagonists attacked TAV construction sites in the Valle di Susa, burning police vehicles and throwing stones, bombs and incendiary devices, with police using tear gas and water cannons to push them back.
- The violence forced closures on the A32 motorway and suspended rail services on the Turin–Modane and Bardonecchia–Salbertrand routes because groups entered and blocked tracks.
- Investigators have identified roughly 450 people connected to the clashes and reported more than 120 injured members of the security forces, including police, carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza.
- Probes coordinated by the Procura di Torino consider charges including the crime of 'devastazione' and have led to the detention of four foreign suspects linked to the so‑called Blocco Nero as officials inspected damage.
- The episode grew out of long‑running opposition to the Turin–Lyon line that draws local fatigue and outside antagonists, and it has widened political polarization while prompting tighter security and the prospect of major prosecutions.
