Overview

  • Beacon introduces city-builder elements that let players become town mayors and construct and upgrade buildings such as jukebox bars, merchant shops and fishing ponds.
  • Travelers can now hire wingmen squadrons to defend settlements from pirate raids, integrating new combat strategies into the gameplay.
  • The free Beacon update launched June 4 for PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and the original Switch.
  • A dedicated Switch2 edition arrives June 5 alongside the console, featuring higher resolution, improved frame rates, high-res textures, full multiplayer, touchscreen and gyro controls and cross-save support.
  • Hello Games spent the past year optimizing No Man’s Sky for Switch2 hardware, calling the new port a “huge leap forward” from its original Switch entry.
