No Bovines at 2026 Salon de l’Agriculture After DNC Outbreak Forces Withdrawal

Organizers cite disease‑spread risk to protect vulnerable breeds.

Overview

  • The show’s organizers confirmed that no cows, calves or bulls will be present in Paris from February 21 to March 1 at Porte de Versailles.
  • Breed bodies and the fair concluded that a large gathering poses too high a transmission risk for dermatose nodulaire contagieuse, especially for small‑population breeds.
  • The decision marks a first in 60 years of the Salon and the first absence of cattle from the Concours général agricole in over a century.
  • Other species will still be exhibited, with sheep, pigs and goats in Hall 1, horses and then dogs and cats in Hall 4, and about 1,100 exhibitors across 16 hectares.
  • ‘Biguine,’ the bovine mascot, will remain on a farm in Bourgogne–Franche‑Comté and the event’s official poster will be replaced in the coming weeks.
