Nîmes Man Sentenced to Eight Years for Arson Targeting Police Station

The attack, which took place on August 20-21, 2024, targeted a newly established police station intended to symbolize law enforcement's return to the area.
The fire severely damaged a bakery adjacent to the station and caused over €380,000 in total damages, including harm to the station's interior.
A 15-year-old accomplice, who admitted to transporting flammable materials, was sentenced in December to three years of prison, two of which were suspended.
The convicted man, Yasine B., denied involvement despite surveillance footage placing him at the scene; his lawyer has filed an appeal against the verdict.
