All Medical Colleges Must Disclose Fee Structure, Pay Stipends: NMC

Overview

  • All NMC-regulated medical colleges must publish course-wise fee structures and intern, junior resident and senior resident stipend details on their websites within seven days via a Google Form.
  • The commission warned that institutions failing to comply will face show-cause notices, financial penalties, suspension of admissions or withdrawal of course recognition.
  • The July 11 notice enforces Regulation 4.3 of the PGMER 2023 and Supreme Court interim directions requiring transparent disclosure of approved and miscellaneous fees before counselling.
  • RTI responses obtained by activist Dr K V Babu reveal 60 colleges have not paid stipulated stipends and 50 have issued only nominal amounts to trainees.
  • Protests over unpaid stipends led to the week-long suspension of 64 MBBS interns at Chalmeda Anand Rao Institute of Medical Sciences in Telangana.
