Overview
- All government and private hospitals have been directed to keep anti‑rabies vaccine and rabies immunoglobulin available at all times.
- Institutions must identify vulnerable premises within two weeks and complete fencing, gates or other safeguards within eight weeks across schools, hospitals, sports venues, bus terminals and railway stations.
- Each campus must appoint a nodal officer to oversee cleanliness, prevent dog entry, coordinate with municipal bodies and publicly display contact details.
- Stray dogs found inside institutional grounds are to be removed immediately for sterilisation and vaccination and are not to be returned to the same location.
- Chief secretaries of states and UTs, NHAI and the Health Ministry must file compliance affidavits within eight weeks, as reports flag procurement challenges for costly RIG outside major tertiary hospitals.
