NMC Clears New Government Medical Colleges in Wayanad and Kasaragod With 50 MBBS Seats Each

Kerala targets first MBBS admissions this year following the regulator’s clearance.

  • Kasaragod’s build-out is funded by a ₹160 crore KIIFB sanction, with the academic block complete, the hospital block progressing, a 60-seat nursing college started, and a ₹29 crore hostel nearing completion.
  • Kasaragod has created 273 posts, opened OP services across multiple specialties, introduced e-Sanjeevani telemedicine, and secured AERB approval for radiology facilities.
  • Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra welcomed the approval, credited sustained local advocacy including Rahul Gandhi’s efforts, and urged the state to make the colleges functional quickly.
