Overview

  • NLC India Renewables Limited will develop a 500 MWh BESS project across substations in Ottapidaram, Anuppankulam, and Kayathur.
  • Bondada Group’s 400 MWh system will be deployed at Vellalaviduthi and Thennampatty to manage peak demand.
  • Both contracts were awarded by Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited through competitive bidding and include 12-year purchase agreements with the state’s distribution utilities.
  • The storage systems are designed for two full charge-discharge cycles per day to balance renewable intermittency.
  • These initiatives support Tamil Nadu’s target of 50% renewable energy by 2030 and contribute to India’s net-zero and non-fossil fuel capacity goals.
