NJ Man Charged with Arson for 350-Acre Wildfire Near Six Flags

Richard Shashaty allegedly ignited the fire using illegal Dragon's Breath ammunition at a shooting range in Jackson Township.

The wildfire, known as the Shotgun Fire, scorched 350 acres and led to evacuations of 15 homes in Jackson Township, New Jersey.
Richard Shashaty, 37, has been charged with arson and firearms violations for using prohibited Dragon's Breath shotgun rounds.
The fire originated from the southwest corner of the Central Jersey Rifle Range, igniting combustibles with magnesium shards.
Dragon's Breath ammunition, banned in several states, is known for creating fireballs and is not intended for hunting or self-defense.
Shashaty turned himself in and is currently held in Ocean County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.
