NJ Gov. Murphy Proposes Measures for Affordable Living

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has proposed a series of measures to make the state more affordable, including initiatives to defray the costs of abortions and help people pay off medical debt.
Murphy has called on the Legislature to pass a bill that would scrap out-of-pocket costs for abortion procedures and protect patients and providers.
The governor also wants to enact a package that will help families avoid being caught in a medical debt trap, and require every medical bill to be clear and transparent.
Murphy has also called on the Legislature to pass a bill that would create more affordable housing in the state, overhauling the existing system for how towns meet their affordable housing obligations.
Murphy has also proposed changes to expand access to voting, including a bill that would give 16- and 17-year-olds the right to vote in local school board elections.
