Overview
- In April the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tipped off Batavia police about Michael B. Erickson.
- Batavia police and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant in May and found thousands of suspected child sexual abuse images on his NIU dorm electronics.
- Erickson was arrested on June 2 near Bayfield Drive in DeKalb and charged with production, dissemination and possession of child pornography.
- A judge granted him pre-trial release and he is scheduled to appear in DeKalb County court on July 17.
- Northern Illinois University confirmed it removed Erickson from campus housing upon learning of the charges.
