Nitish Kumar Lays Foundation Stones for Rs 574 Crore of Muzaffarpur Projects

The push aims to reinforce connectivity to rural hinterlands through targeted infrastructure upgrades before the upcoming Assembly elections.

Overview

  • Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laid foundation stones on July 31 for ten infrastructure projects in Muzaffarpur amounting to Rs 574.16 crore.
  • The projects include a Rs 167.68 crore rail overbridge between Ramdayalu Nagar and Muzaffarpur stations and a Rs 24 crore RCC bridge in the Madhurpatti area of Gaighat.
  • Road works cover the Sipahpur–Chakmuhabbat stretch (Rs 120.93 crore), Chandni Chowk–Ramdayalu Nagar widening (Rs 44.76 crore), Chandni Chowk–Bakhri Path upgrade (Rs 89.77 crore) and two sections of the Shivhar–Minapur–Kanti road (Rs 52.56 crore and Rs 74.18 crore).
  • The CM distributed symbolic cheques totaling Rs 105 crore to 5,642 self-help groups under the Jeevika programme.
  • He instructed officials to fast-track the schemes and ensure timely completion ahead of the Assembly elections.
