Nitish Kumar Launches 17 Patna Projects, Opens Bihar’s First Cable Suspension Bridge

The launches mark a high-visibility follow-through on Pragati Yatra pledges ahead of the Assembly polls.

Overview

  • Projects worth about ₹1,159.84 crore were inaugurated or launched in Patna, led by 12 power upgrades and four tourism works.
  • Key works include the ₹82.99 crore cable suspension bridge at Punpun, modeled on Rishikesh’s Laxman Jhula and aimed at pedestrians, small vehicles and visiting devotees.
  • Additional Patna schemes span new and reconductored 33 kV lines, transformer capacity enhancements, a two-lane road link to Patna–Gaya Road and tourism facilities at the Ular Sun Temple.
  • A day earlier, the Chief Minister launched 27 schemes worth ₹1,203.81 crore in Saran focused on grid substations, transmission lines and road upgrades.
  • The rollout was paired with welfare messaging, including a rise in the social security pension to ₹1,100 and provision of 125 free electricity units for domestic consumers.
