Overview

• Union Minister Nitin Gadkari unveiled 19 national highway projects worth ₹4,137 crore, covering 105 km across Khurda, Puri, Ganjam, Kandhamal, and Nayagarh districts.
• The projects include four bridges worth ₹427 crore under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund, improving connectivity on key routes like Berhampur-Gopalpur and Rourkela-Biramitrapur highways.
• Key initiatives include the four-laning of the Talcher-Kamakhyanagar section of NH-149 and NH-53, alongside foundation stones for 17 new projects and inaugurations of two highway sections.
• Gadkari announced ministerial approval for the ₹7,000 crore Capital Region Ring Road, pending Union Cabinet clearance, and sanctioned the ₹1,200 crore six-laning of the Bhubaneswar-Puri highway.
• These developments are part of Odisha’s ₹2 lakh crore infrastructure program, aiming to deliver world-class, American-standard highways to boost economic growth, tourism, and regional connectivity.
