Nissan’s No. 23 Wins Suzuka GT500, Snapping Toyota’s Nine-Race Run

Pit-stop execution proved decisive, letting NISMO overturn ARTA’s pole advantage.

Overview

  • Katsumasa Chiyo and Mitsunori Takaboshi converted a front-row start into victory by 5.768 seconds over Rookie Racing’s No. 14 Toyota, with NISMO’s No. 3 third and ARTA’s polesitting No. 16 fourth.
  • Quicker service in the pit window moved the No. 23 Nissan into control, while the No. 14 briefly led after its stop but faded with a stage-one fuel-flow restrictor.
  • The result ends Toyota’s nine-race GT500 winning streak and cuts the No. 1 TOM’S championship lead to 10 points over Rookie Racing.
  • CarGuy MKS (Rikuto Kobayashi/Zak O’Sullivan) won GT300 in the Ferrari 296 GT3; LM Corsa’s No. 60 Lexus was disqualified for a minimum-weight breach, promoting Subaru to second and Team Mach to third.
  • Stewards also gave Seven x Seven a 40-second penalty for a full-course yellow violation that dropped it to ninth, and a pre-race pit-lane fire ruled Shade Racing a non-starter.
