Nissan Unveils China-Developed NX8 SUV With 800V Platform

Developed with Dongfeng in China, the N Series SUV advances Nissan’s NEV push using an 800V Tianyan platform with CATL LFP packs.

Overview

  • Nissan has revealed the five-seat NX8 in China, with MIIT-published specifications confirming its NEV status and listing 4,870 mm length, 1,920 mm width, 1,680 mm height, and a 2,917 mm wheelbase.
  • The lineup includes a single-motor BEV rated at either 215 kW or 250 kW and an EREV pairing a 1.5-liter engine making 109 kW with a 195 kW electric motor.
  • Both versions use CATL ‘Yundun’ LFP batteries that support 5C ultra-fast charging on an 800V architecture, marking the first N Series model to adopt the 800V setup.
  • Released images show a roof-mounted LiDAR and sensor suite for advanced driver-assistance features such as automatic parking and Navigation on Autopilot, while interior details remain under wraps.
  • Nissan targets a 2026 China on-sale date, with pricing, battery capacities, and certified ranges yet to be announced, and reports suggest possible exports to markets in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, potentially including Australia.
