Nissan Unveils 2026 Rogue PHEV, Its First U.S. Plug-In Hybrid

The alliance-built model leverages Mitsubishi’s Outlander PHEV platform to quickly give Nissan a contender in the hybrid-heavy compact SUV segment.

Overview

  • New Rogue PHEV is essentially a rebadged Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, sharing its platform, bodywork, and core components.
  • It pairs a 2.4-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors and a 20-kWh battery for 248 hp and 332 lb-ft, with all-wheel drive standard.
  • EPA estimates list 38 miles of electric range, about 64 MPGe combined, 26 mpg on gas, and roughly 420 miles of total driving range.
  • U.S. models delete CHAdeMO/DC fast charging and use a 3.5 kW onboard AC charger that replenishes the battery in about 7.5 hours on Level 2.
  • Two trims—SL and Platinum—include three-row seating for up to seven, with pricing to be announced and sales slated for early 2026.
