Nissan Qashqai e-Power Completes 837-Mile UK Run With Fuel to Spare

Orders are now open for Nissan’s revised Qashqai e-Power after engineers recorded a 75.0mpg average on the 837-mile trek.

Overview

  • Two standard third-generation Qashqai e-Power SUVs driven by Nissan Technical Centre Europe engineers covered Land’s End to John O’Groats in 18 hours over two days, finishing with about 100 miles of fuel reserve.
  • The endurance run delivered an average fuel consumption of 75.0mpg (3.8 L/100 km), outperforming the 67.4mpg achieved by a 2007 diesel Qashqai on the same route.
  • Nissan’s new five-in-one driveline integrates motor, generator, inverter, increaser and reducer with a turbocharged 1.5-litre STARC combustion engine to reach 42% thermal efficiency.
  • Power output has increased to 201 bhp while CO2 emissions are reduced to 102 g/km, up from 187 bhp and down from 116 g/km in the previous generation.
  • Bookings opened with UK pricing from £34,860 and Australian pricing from A$47,165 (plus on-road costs), with deliveries slated for later this year.
