Overview

  • At a dealer meeting in Las Vegas, Nissan executives showed a boxy design study and told retailers the rugged midsize SUV will return in 2028.
  • Reporting indicates a V6 hybrid is planned, with a potential range-extender targeting about 75 miles of electric-only driving.
  • The revived model will use a new ladder-frame platform expected to also underpin a redesigned Frontier, a body-on-frame Pathfinder, and Infiniti’s QX60.
  • Production for these models is expected at Nissan’s Canton, Mississippi plant, which currently builds the Frontier.
  • The briefing also previewed a broader lineup refresh, including a fourth-generation Rogue targeted for 2027 and a Skyline-based Infiniti sedan with a manual transmission.
