Nio Delays European Launch of Firefly EV to Q3 2025

The budget-friendly electric hatchback begins deliveries in China on April 29, while European rollout is postponed due to sales and service network challenges.

  • Nio's Firefly, its most affordable EV, will launch in China on April 29, starting at 119,800 yuan ($16,400) with only battery-included models available initially.
  • The battery rental option, part of Nio's Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program, is set to debut in August to encourage use of its extensive battery-swapping network.
  • The European rollout of the Firefly has been delayed to Q3 2025 as Nio works to expand its regional sales and service infrastructure.
  • Nio's fifth-generation battery swap stations, supporting all three of its brands (Nio, Onvo, and Firefly), will begin deployment in China in early 2026.
