Ninth Steel Bridge Completed on Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail in Gujarat

The 200-metre crossing was finished by sliding a second 100‑metre span across NH‑48 with a controlled launch that kept traffic moving.

Overview

  • The two 100‑metre spans now form a 200‑metre, approximately 2,884‑tonne bridge measuring 14.6 metres high and 14.3 metres wide near Nadiad.
  • This marks the ninth of 17 planned steel bridges in Gujarat, with 28 slated across the 508‑kilometre corridor including 11 in Maharashtra.
  • The bridge was fabricated at Salasar near Hapur and is designed for a 100‑year service life.
  • Construction used about 114,172 Tor‑Shear Type High Strength bolts, C5 protective painting and elastomeric bearings, with assembly on temporary trestles 14.9 metres above ground.
  • The second span was launched using an automatic sliding system with two semi‑automatic 250‑ton jacks and macalloy bars, completing a bridge whose first span was installed in April 2025.
