Nintendo to End Gold Points Rewards Program in March 2025

The loyalty program, which offered discounts on eShop purchases, will no longer allow users to earn points after March 24, though existing points remain redeemable for 12 months.

  • Nintendo's Gold Points program, launched in 2016, will cease awarding points for purchases after March 24, 2025, at 9:30 PM PDT.
  • Gold Points already earned will remain valid for 12 months from the date they were issued and can still be used for discounts on eShop purchases.
  • Physical game purchases released before March 24, 2025, will still be eligible for points if registered within the standard one-year timeframe.
  • Platinum Points, another aspect of the My Nintendo rewards program, will continue unaffected and can still be used for digital and physical rewards.
  • The discontinuation coincides with the anticipated launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, though Nintendo has not confirmed whether a new rewards system will replace Gold Points.
