Nintendo Reveals Mario Kart World as Launch Title for Switch 2

The ninth installment in the Mario Kart franchise launches June 5, 2025, introducing expansive multiplayer, new gameplay modes, and dynamic features exclusive to the new console.

Mario Kart World will support up to 24 players per race, the highest capacity in the series' history.
New gameplay features include Free Roam mode, Knockout Tour mode, and dynamic weather that affects track conditions.
Players can race using new vehicles like jet skis and snowmobiles while utilizing mechanics such as rail-grinding and wall-riding.
The game is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 and will not be backward compatible with the original Switch.
Mario Kart World serves as the sequel to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which has sold over 67 million units as of December 2024.
